Organization of Veterans of the Republic of Moldova

The Organization of Veterans of the Republic of Moldova (OVRM) was set up in March 1987. Currently it unites majority of veterans and pensioners living in the Republic. The OVRM has 42 agencies in all regions and cities and 1247 founding organizations (in each village, separate enterprises and establishments)

Since the beginning of the establishment of the Organization, its activities were based on protection of rights and legal interests of veterans and pensioners, provision of a decent level of their material well — being and enhancement of their role in a social life of Moldova.

The OVRM places particular attention to the organizational strengthening of the republican veteran movement.

In the interests of extension of activities of veteran organizations meant to improve financial conditions of veterans and attract activists for more effective work on education of the youth, the Organization Council coordinates its activities with veteran associations of the Defense Ministry, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Frontier Service, Officers’ Union, Afghans’ Union and other bodies.

The OVRM is also actively working to preserve memorials, monuments, obelisks and fraternal burial of the perished warriors.

As a result of the organization measures undertaken by us, there were opened over 30 houses for lonely and seriously ill pensioners, over 120 free social messing facilities, we are working to launch specialized shops with reduced prices for veterans, over 25 000 lonely elderly people are domiciliary served by 2245 social workers, there was brought into practice a project on provision of elderly persons with spectacles, the aged people are also being provided with hearing devices and denture treatment.
