100-th ANNIVERSARY OF THE END OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR: LESSONS AND MODERNITY

General Secretary of the International Advisory Committee of the organizations of reserve officers (IAC) Anatoly Kumakhov, at a meeting on April 2 and 3, 2019 with the Head of the Department of Social Affairs of the Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria I. Antonov and Chairman of the Central Council of the Union of Officers and Sergeants of the Reserve and Retired of Bulgaria Z. Stoykov, with the participation of his deputies, he discussed organizational and technical issues related to the International humanitarian action «Mission of Peace and Friendship: 100 years of the end of the First World War: Lessons and Modernity».

А. Kumakhov briefed the Bulgarian colleagues on the activities of the International Advisory Committee of the organizations of reserve officers, and about the main events held in different capitals, and presented selected issues of the «Officer Fraternity» magazine and video films based on their materials. He informed the Bulgarian side in detail about the May Event, gave appropriate explanations on all issues.

The proposal of the IAC Secretariat to hold a large-scale international event was supported by the Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria and the Union of officers and sergeants of the reserve and retired were agreed all parameters for its implementation. The international humanitarian action «Mission of Peace and Friendship» will be held jointly with the Union of Officers and Sergeants of the Reserve and Retired and with the assistance of the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense in the Conference Hall of the Central Military Club. It will be attended by delegations from more than 30 countries and several international organizations, and representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Administration of the Mayor of Sofia, the Military Academy and the Institute of the History of Bulgaria, Bulgarian veterans, scientists, historians and philosophers.

Kumakhov awarded the Bulgarian veteran - midshipman of the reserve Mr. Dimitr Babenov with the Diploma of the 3rd degree of the Second International Amateur Photography Competition «For a World without wars and military conflicts. Beauty will save the World», wished him further creative success, invited to take part in the Third photo contest «Planet Earth - is our common home. Beauty will save the world», which will held it in the autumn of 2019.
