About the meeting of leadership of the Department of Security and Disarmament of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian

On 22 March, 2012 Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the organizations reserve officers, the chairman of the Committee of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on the issues of national security and socio-economic living conditions of the military, their families and veterans, Alexander Kanshin took part in a meeting on security and disarmament, held by the leadership of the Department of Security and Disarmament of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The meeting was attended by representatives of key Russian nongovernmental organizations dealing with disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control.

In the course of the concerned exchange of views on issues of high importance there were discussed such important topics as the content and prospects of cooperation with the United States and NATO on missile defense, the prevention of weapons deployment in space, creation of conditions for further progress towards nuclear disarmament, crisis bailout possibility in the field of control over conventional arms in Europe, strengthening of the multilateral export control mechanisms, etc.

Deputy Foreign Minister S. A. Ryabkov, who participated in an informal discussion on the agenda of the meeting, addressed the representatives of NGO with a brief greeting.

The Executive Secretary of the International Advisory Council of the Reserve Officers Anatoly Kumakhov also attended the meeting.
