Celebration of the Day of the Army

The International Advisory Committee of organizations of reserve officers and Commission on national security and social and economic problems of military people, members of their families and veterans of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation together with the Main command of the Army conducted in the Central academic theatre of the Russian Army a gala concert and a reception, dedicated to the nation-wide holiday — the Day of the Army, which was celebrated on October 1, 2012.

The event was attended by the President of the International Advisory Committee of organizations of reserve officers (IAC), Chairman of the Commission of Public Chamber on national security issues, Commander-in-chief of the Army of the Russian Armed Forces colonel-general Valentin Chirkin, Marshal of the Soviet Union D. T. Yazov, other distinguished military commanders, veterans, officers and generals of the armed services, Chief inspectors of the Ministry of Defense, deputy mayor of Moscow A. Gorbenko, representatives of state and public organizations and cadets. On the invitation of the IAC Secretariat the gala event was attended by representatives of the military and diplomatic corps.

On behalf of the IAC Presidium A. Kanshin decorated the Commander-in-chief of the Army v. Chirkin and several officers, who once used to have the post of the Commander-in-chief of the Army, with the medal of the International Advisory Committee of organizations of reserve officers «Officers’ solidarity».

The big concert program involved the participation of the A.v. Alexandrov Russian army red-bannered song and dance ensemble, USSR People’s Artist, laureate of the Lenin Prize Vasily Lanovoy, vocal, choreographic groups and soloists of classic ballet — students of the Choreography Academy at the State Bolshoy Theater of Russia.

The event finished with a large reception for veterans, servicemen and representatives of the offices of military attaché.
