Conference in Egypt

On the 4th of December 2008 the National Association of The Armed Forces Reserve Officers Organizations (MEGAPIR) with the assistance of Egypt embassy to Russia and the Alexandria Library Egypt organized international scientific conference in Alexandria devoted to the lessons and results of The Battle of El Alamein.

Representatives of the government and military authorities, veteran organizations of the Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as prominent Russian and foreign historians and public men, commanders and participants of the Great Patriotic War took part in the conference.

Russian delegation representatives met with leaders of the Association of Egypt Armed Forces veterans, exchanged experience and discussed possible ways for coop-eration. They also visited The National museum of Egypt and The museum of The Battle of El Alamein, where laid wreaths on the memorial of fell in battle. The book «Stalingrad — El Alamein: history and lessons» was published in Russian and English languages basing on the materials of the conference. Its presentation was held in the Alexandrian Library in May 2009. Representative of the Association «MEGAPIR» in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania retired major-general Soltan Kabolov took part in panel discussion «World War II — 65 years of the victory over fascism» held on the initiative of Alexandria university, the Consulate general of the RF, famous Egyptian historians and public men on the 29th of March 2010 in Alexandria.
