RECEPTION IN THE IAC HEADQUARTERS

On December 19, 2012, in the headquarters of the International Advisory Committee of organizations of reserve officers (IAC) there was carried out a reception, in which participated representatives of Moscow diplomatic corps, Board of directors of «Megapir» National Association, Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and veterans, who participated in the Great Patriotic War.


RECEPTION IN THE IAC HEADQUARTERS

A film about the International humanitarian action «Mission of peace and friendship» conducted in Austria and Slovakia in May 2012 was shown to the guests. The new third edition of the IAC journal «Officers’ fraternity» was also presented to them.

IAC President Alexander Kanshin briefed veterans and foreign military diplomats on the IAC activities and congratulated them on the New Year and Christmas. The participants were also greeted by the Marshal of the Soviet Union D. G. Yazov and Marshal of Artillery v. M. Mikhalkin.

Several participants of the meeting were decorated with the IAC medal «Officers’ solidarity» for their significant contribution to strengthening international ties between veterans and for their facilitation of the establishment and development of relations between organizations of reserve officers. So, A. Kanshin bestowed medals upon the Chairman of the Coordination Council of the International Union «Community of public organizations of veterans (pensioners) of independent states» Admiral of the Fleet A. I. Sorokin, defense attaché of the Finnish Republic coronel Petti Forsström, deputy defense attaché of the Republic of Poland lieutenant coronel Yatsek Vesolovski.

In the end of the meeting a buffet was arrange for the guests.

Representative of the US Department of Defense spoke in favor of strengthening relations between Russian and American veteran organizations.

Moscow, December 19. INTERFAX-AVN — The membership of the International Advisory Council (IAC) of organizations of reserve officers, which unites veterans and reserve officers from 24 countries of Europe, Asia and the Middle East has increased more than twice in the recent years — declared IAC President Alexander Kanshin.

«In this result there is also large contribution of the press body of our international committee — the journal «Officers’ fraternity, which is published in both Russian and English and distributed in more than 50 countries», — said A. Kanshin during the presentation of the journal on Wednesday. The ceremony was attended by over 20 military attaché, accredited in Russia, as well as veterans of military leadership, leaded by ex-minister of defense Dmitry Yazov.

RECEPTION IN THE IAC HEADQUARTERS

A. Kanshin emphasized that IAC press body is kind of a bridge into future, which builds up trust between veterans from different countries, teaches people to disseminate the principles of peace and friendship.

He thanked all military attaché, who were present at the meeting, for their assistance in the establishment of the IAC two years ago and bestowed committee public award «Officers’ solidarity» upon the military attaché of Finland and deputy military attaché of Poland.

War veteran, Admiral of the Fleet Alexey Sorokin, who is in charge of the CIS veteran organizations, was also decorated with this award.

In his turn, the main representative of the US Department of Defense, defense attaché Brigadier General Peter Zvak mentioned in his conversation with «Interfax-AVN» that for him «it is a big honor to attend the meeting with former minister of defense Marshal Yazov, other veterans of military leadership, which have already become historical figures, and also military attaché from a whole range of countries».

«Russia was our ally during the years of the Second World War. We highly appreciate war veterans, who defeated fascism. We recognize it and we look forward to future meetings and cooperation with veteran organizations in Russia», — said P. Zvak.

He spoke in favor of strengthening the relations between veteran organizations of Russia and the USA.

The International Advisory Committee of organizations of reserve officers was founded on March 18, 2011 in Moscow on the initiative of the National Association of Unions of the Armed Forces Reserve Officers (MEGAPIR). In the beginning it incorporated 14 public organizations of reserve officers and veterans from 13 countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Estonia and Norway, the representatives of which participated as observers.

At the moment the IAC is composed of 24 organizations of reserve officers from 22 countries of Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
