Ascent to the mountain Elbrus, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the mass ascent of Elbrus in 1967 and the Year of Ecology in Russia
The International Advisory Committee of Organizations of Reserve Officers (IAC), together with the executive authorities of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (including the Ministry of Sport and others), and Public Council under the Ministry of Defense of Russia, OOO "Spetspromtekh" and the National Association of unions of reserve officers of the Armed forses"Megapir" working on the project of climbing the Western (5642m) and the East (5621m) summit of Mount Elbrus, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the mass ascent of Elbrus in July 1967 . and the Year of Ecology in Russia. (Conventional name is "Elbrus 1967-2017").
Our initiative is supported by the Head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic Y.A. Kokov, executive authorities and public organizations of the Republic, as well as an outstanding mountaineer A-H. Olmesov and other specialists.
As it became known, with similar plans are also addressed to the leadership of KBR group from the State Duma of the Russian Federation (CPRF faction), KBR Parliament (Communist faction) and Kabardino-Balkarian branch of the Russian Geographical Society.
Taking into account the fact that the goals of all groups and the terms of ascent practically coincide, a decision was taken to hold a large and complex event to create a joint Organizing Committee for the ascent to Elbrus in 2017, which included representatives of the IAC, «Spetspromtekh», Kabardino-Balkarian branch of the Russian Geographical Society, the State Duma of the Russian Federation (the Communist Party Fraction), the Parliament of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (the Communist Party Fraction), the executive bodies of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, as well as the Council veterans of Komsomol of KBR, etc.
Objective:
1. Promotion and further development of mountaineering and tourism as a means of patriotic education, strengthening of physical fitness and health, improve the application of skills, sports skills.
2. Supporting the ideas of the Year of Ecology in the Russian Federation in 2017.
3. On the tops of Elbrus will be installed of flags (pennants) of the Russian Federation, the KBR, the IAC, the RF Ministry of Defense, OOO Spetspromtekh, etc.
Training (training sessions, adaptation) and climbing Elbrus are planned for the period from July 31 to August 12, 2017.
Participants of the ascent from the IAC group on physical and other indicators are divided into two groups:
- "A" - climbing to the top of the lightweight program.
- "B" - an assault group of 10 well-climbers, practicing the route to the top without the use of mechanical means.
To participate in the event are invited the groups of suvorovtses (cadets) and yunarmeytses from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republics and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
The issue of participation in the ascent of representatives from foreign organizations-members of the International Advisory Committee of organizations of reserve officers is being studied.
Material support for the IAC group is due to sponsorship fees. Accommodation is at the «Balkaria» Hotel (Terskol village).
There are two press conferences (before and after the event), as well as a rally at the Monument to the fallen heroes of the Great Patriotic War in the village. Terskol (according to a separate plan).
An important event will be the holding of the event after the ascension of the meeting and presentation ceremony of participants of the legendary mass ascent of Elbrus in 1967. and return (delivery) of them by their tokens left on the top of Elbrus 50 years ago.
This final stage of the event will be held by the Joint Organizing Committee and the Commission for the opening of the metal box with the tags of the participants in the ascent of 1967 left in it, which was fixed on the Eastern peak of Elbrus. At a mass rally in the village of Terskol will take part representatives of Leadership the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the State Duma and the Parliament of KBR, the Council of Komsomol Veterans of KBR and other public organizations, central and regional media, veterans climbing Elbrus 1967, Participants climbing "Elbrus 1967-2017", youth Organizations, other guests.

The idea of organizing the ascent "Elbrus 1967-2017" was propose by Anatoly Kumakhov-Secretary General of the International Advisory Committee of Organizations of Reserve Officers in connection with the 50th anniversary of the mass ascent to Elbrus in July 1967 to which he was a participant, as well as the Year of Ecology in Russia.
The initiative to organize the climb "Elbrus 1967-2017" was supported by the leadership of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Deputy Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Council of the National Association of Reserve Officers of the Armed Forces "Megapir" A. Kangshin and General Director of "Spetspromtech" G. Voitenko, who invited to the Organizing Committee and Headquarters to conduct a rather complex international event of major professional-specialists in mountaineering: Master of Sports of the USSR of the international class in mountaineering "Snow Leopard" No.3 Bozhukov V. and the multiple climber on Elbrus M. Kalinkin, other experienced mountaineers. Will also be connected to the ascent Experienced athletes and specialists from Kabardino-Balkaria.
In the course of the mass ascent to Elbrus in July 1967, (More than 2000 people participated in the training sessions) on the top of Elbrus was fixed a metal box in which each participant of the ascent lowered the duralumin plate (token) with scratched his name and wishes.
Members of the ascent "Elbrus 1967-2017" mean to remove this box with personal tokens, which can present a certain sporting and historical interest, taking into account that the ascent to Elbrus in July 1967 - is a unique event in mountaineering not only in our country, but all over the world in terms of successfully solving organizational and technical issues, ensuring the safety of such a large-scale event, the mass character and composition of the participants.
The organizers believe that "Elbrus 1967-2017" taking the relay baton "Alpiniad 1967", will be its worthy continuation, the development of sports traditions, a contribution to the popularization of mountaineering, tourism and sports.
